Russia
- On March 8, 2022, President Biden signed an Executive Order (E.O) with widespread bipartisan support to ban the import of Russian oil, liquefied natural gas, and coal to the United States to further deprive President Putin of the economic resources he uses to continue this war. This E.O. also bans new U.S. investment in Russia’s energy sector and prohibit Americans from financing or enabling foreign companies that are making investment to produce energy in Russia.
CBP
- Since February 11, 2022, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized four shipments of palm oil in Baltimore due to information indicating that the palm oil was manufactured by forced labor, a form of modern slavery. The palm oil shipments are valued at nearly $2.5 million.
FDA
- On March 3, 2022. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration finalized their guidance, Initiation of Voluntary Recalls Under 21 CFR Part 7, Subpart C, to help companies prepare to remove violative products from the market describing steps companies should take before a recall is necessary to develop policies and procedures that include training, planning, and record-keeping to reduce the time a recalled product is on the market and limit the public’s exposure to risk.
